Republican candidate for Alabama secretary of state Caroleene Dobson raised about $116,000 for her campaign in July, ending the month with about $600,500 on hand, according to recent campaign finance reports.

Montgomery attorney Caroleene Dobson, a Republican who ran for Congress last year, announced Thursday she is running for secretary of state.
